Store Manager, Mandy Barron has worked at the Next clearance outlet since its opening five years ago. Previously with Next for 2 years at their store in Sunderland, Mandy now manages 35 busy staff at the very popular Royal Quays shop. The store is a large operation and carries a huge range of massively discounted Next goods, including Special Purchase items that you won’t find in the high street.

“We had an excellent Christmas and New Year period; unbelievable really, with figures better than last year. We suffered a little in November with the snow but sales from Boxing Day onwards have been very good. Obviously we run the big clearance offers all year round so if someone has just missed that special something in the Next stores in Newcastle or at the Silverlink, chances are we’ll have it here for a few weeks longer.”

Alongside the usual clearance items which sell at up to 60% off high street prices, the store is now selling an increasing amount of the Next Home range, including soft furnishings and furniture.

“We’re also just about to launch an exclusive new toddlers’ range for those aged 18 months to 3 years old. This range is fabulous, it’s Next quality at outlet prices and isn’t available in the high street stores.”

Royal Quays had a great Christmas and New Year with an extremely busy and popular sales period. Visitor and sales figures showed a positive upturn which Centre Manager, Judith Ramshaw, puts down to the excellent service and discounts offered by all outlets. A range of successful events including ‘Santa and his Reindeer’ and a ferry visit from the Faroe Islands also helped strengthen sales.
